How to install Vmware-Tools on Debian Linux

Ensure you grab the latest updates before you begin. If you update the kernel after installing Vmware-Tools you will need to re-run the script.

For debian the following command can be run to start the update and upgrade process.

Mount the physical cd-rom device to our /media/cdrom folder so we can access the contents of the cd.

Now we extract the file from the Vmware-tools archieve. The following command will extract the archieve located at /media/cdrom/ to the folder /opt/ in one command.

Now to install the Vmware-Tools
